LANAP: Innovation Meets Comfort in Periodontal Care

At Lightfoot Periodontics, we’re dedicated to providing the most effective, patient-friendly solutions for treating gum disease. One of the most advanced treatments we offer is LANAP (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure), an FDA-approved, minimally invasive alternative to traditional periodontal surgery. This cutting-edge laser treatment targets and removes diseased tissue while preserving healthy tissue, promoting natural healing, and even encouraging bone regeneration.

Whether you're dealing with early-stage gum disease or advanced periodontitis, LANAP can be an excellent option to restore your gum health– without the discomfort, gum recession, or extended recovery time often associated with traditional surgery. To learn more about LANAP, keep scrolling!

What is the LANAP Protocol?

LANAP is a minimally invasive treatment for periodontal disease that uses a highly specialized PerioLase MVP-7 laser. Not only does LANAP eliminate infection, but it also stimulates the reattachment of healthy tissue to the teeth. In many cases, it encourages bone regeneration, helping to preserve tooth stability and reduce the risk of tooth loss.

During the procedure, a specialized laser fiber is gently inserted between the tooth and gum to selectively target and remove diseased tissue and harmful bacteria, while leaving healthy tissue intact. Next, any calculus (tartar) is carefully removed from the root surfaces of the teeth. The laser is then used again at the base of the periodontal pockets to remove remaining debris, sterilize the area, and create a sealed environment that supports optimal healing. Patients will leave this appointment with no incisions or stitches, ensuring a comfortable and smooth recovery.

Is LANAP Right for You?

LANAP is a safe treatment for a wide variety of patients, and it often presents fewer risks and quicker recovery times than traditional surgery. However, the best way to determine if LANAP is right for you is through a thorough consultation with one of our skilled periodontists. We’ll assess your specific needs and help you choose the treatment option that’s most appropriate for you and your oral health.
