Dr. William Scott Lightfoot
Passionate about his craft, Dr. Lightfoot earned his Post-Doctoral Degree in Periodontics, a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Nutrition, a Master of Arts Degree in Exercise Physiology, and a Master of Science Degree in Oral
Biology. Not only that, but he is board-certified by the American Board of Periodontology, and he was an
Assistant Clinical Professor at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
While all of these accomplishments and accolades are impressive, what really sets Dr. Lightfoot apart is his
commitment to his patients. He uses everything he has learned over the years, the highest quality products, and
cutting-edge dental technology to create gorgeous, healthy smiles that shine now and last for decades to come.
As for life outside of dentistry, Dr. Lightfoot loves spending time with his wife and their two sons. He also
enjoys reading Louise Penny mysteries and watching baseball!
Dr. Chrysi Boutari
Growing up, Dr. Boutari had an amazing dentist: her father! Throughout the years, she saw the positive impact
dentistry could have on a patient’s life. This ultimately inspired her to attend dental school in Athens,
Greece. Then, she completed additional training in periodontics and periodontal prostheses at the University of
Pennsylvania and the Advanced Standing DMD Program through Boston University. Today, Dr. Boutari has a simple,
but important, mission: to help her patients achieve the healthy, complete, and pain-free smiles that they
deserve.
The dedicated, committed, and passionate prosthodontist that she is, Dr. Boutari spends her time outside of our
office completing continuing education through the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental
Society. She also makes sure to spend lots of time with her husband and their son – whether it’s swimming,
skiing, or traveling back home to Greece to enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean summers.
LANAP
Advanced periodontal disease can lead to a wide range of complications with some of them being irreversible. It can even result in tooth loss! Fortunately, with Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP), damage that has been done to the bone and soft tissues of the mouth due to periodontal disease can be reversed. This way, your smile can be set up for a healthier future. Most of the time, LANAP periodontal surgery is completed in two separate visits scheduled within a week of each other. The soft-tissue laser targets and removes diseased tissue to support and encourage health tissue growth going forward.
Dental Implants
In most cases, dental implants are made out of surgical-grade titanium, and they look like tiny screws. During the placement procedure, the dental implants are placed directly into the jawbone. Over the next few months, the dental implants fuse to the jawbone in a process called “osseointegration.” Once complete, the abutments are placed at the ends of your dental implants. This is what secures your custom-crafted restoration to your jaw. Your restoration is customized to match the exact size, shape, and color to blend in with the rest of your smile. Dental implants have an astonishing success rate of over 95% and last upwards of 30 years or even the rest of your life with proper maintenance.
Bone Grafts/Sinus Lifts
Bone grafting, sometimes called “bone augmentation,” involves putting extra bone material into the existing jawbone structure. Over time, the new bone bonds with your jaw, allowing it to become stronger and larger. Ultimately, the goal is for it to successfully integrate with and support the dental implants. In some cases, a sinus lift is also necessary to accommodate the bone graft. This is when your sinus is gently pushed upward before the graft is placed. This will allow for more room for the jawbone to become the strong foundation that your dental implants need to be successful.
