Dr. William Scott Lightfoot
Dr. Lightfoot’s journey to becoming the exceptional, caring, and board-certified periodontist he is today
began at The Ohio State University. Following graduation, he received his Post-Doctoral Degree in Periodontics,
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition, and a Master of Arts Degree in Exercise Physiology (a few of his many
accomplishments). Now, he uses everything he has learned over the years to help patients achieve the healthy,
pain-free, and gorgeous smiles that they deserve.
As for life outside our practice, Dr. Lightfoot enjoys spending time with his family, watching baseball, and
reading Jack Reacher thrillers. He was also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Tufts University School of
Dental Medicine and lectures nationally and locally on periodontal care and dental implants!
Dr. Chrysi Boutari
Dr. Boutari saw the positive impact a kind, committed, and passionate dentist could have on their patients,
thanks to her father! She spent a lot of time at his practice growing up, and she saw firsthand how he could
make people feel comfortable and confident with their smiles. This led her to complete dental school in Athens
before undergoing years of specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania. Today, she is a graduate of the
Advanced Standing DMD Program through Boston University as well as an active member of the Massachusetts Dental
Society.
When Dr. Boutari isn’t at our office, you’ll most likely find her with her husband and their son. She
also enjoys swimming, skiing, and going back to Greece to spend time with her loved ones.
LANAP
LANAP stands for Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure, and is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat
moderate to severe gum disease. While in the past correcting this type of issue required more traditional
surgery with scalpels and sutures, your periodontist in Duxbury uses a special soft-tissue laser to remove
diseased periodontal tissue by vaporizing it with concentrated light. The result is a more precise treatment, so
you’ll preserve more healthy gum tissue. You’ll also experience less bleeding, a lower risk of
post-procedure infection, and a more comfortable healing process. Furthermore, because the tissue is cauterized,
it is less likely that gum disease will return, providing longer lasting results than traditional surgery.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the world’s only permanent tooth restoration option. If you’re tired of dealing
with temporary fixes like removable dentures or dental bridges that require the alteration of healthy teeth and
the ability to only replace a few consecutive teeth, dental implants could be the solution. Your periodontist in
Duxbury will permanently attach one or more dental implants into the jawbone where it fuses in place via the
process of osseointegration. Once healed, it can support either a crown, bridge, or denture. Dental implants
don’t need to be removed for cleaning and soaking, nor will they ever slip or click when you’re
eating, speaking, or smiling.
Bone Grafts/Sinus Lifts
When you lose permanent teeth, your jawbone suffers from a lack of important stimulation that was once provided
by the tooth’s roots. Unfortunately, with time this can lead to bone deterioration, and can cause problems
when it comes to replacing teeth with dental implants or dentures. However, rather than just remaining
edentulous, your periodontist in Duxbury can perform a bone graft or sinus lift procedure to rebuild the missing
portions of the jaw, making it once again stable enough to support a restoration. Once healed, you may be able
to safely replace lost teeth and improve the odds of your newly restored smile’s success.
