Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing is typically the first recommended treatment for patients diagnosed with mild to moderate periodontal disease. It involves a two-step process in which the periodontist physically removes bacteria-filled calculus (tartar) from along and below the gum line (scaling), and then the rough surfaces of the tooth roots are smoothed (“planed”) to lower the chances of accumulation and infection in the future.

Cosmetic Crown Lengthening

This procedure enables us to remove excess gum tissue to expose more of a tooth’s enamel to either make it appear longer (to create a more balanced and attractive smile) or it can make room for a crown or veneer that will be placed later.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is usually recommended for patients with moderate dental phobia as well as those undergoing less intensive treatments. It involves prescribing a small sedative pill that’s taken right before the appointment. By the time you’re seated, the effects will have started to kick in. Generally, patients receiving oral conscious sedation remain awake and responsive to verbal commands and stimuli, but it’s likely to cause some level of drowsiness, meaning that ride accommodations need to be set up beforehand.
IV Sedation

IV sedation, short for intravenous sedation, is the most potent form of dental sedation. It’s administered through an IV directly into your bloodstream. IV sedation is typically reserved for patients with severe dental fear or those who require extensive treatment like oral surgery. This form of sedation is remarkably safe, and your vitals are closely monitored while it’s being administered. Due to its effects, you’ll need to arrange for transportation following your appointment.
